The life and legacy of late football legend, Christian Chukwu MFR, were celebrated in an emotional and well-attended Service of Songs held on Sunday at St. Andrew’s The Basilica Anglican Church, Trans Ekulu, Enugu. The event drew family, friends, football lovers, and well-wishers who gathered to honor the former Super Eagles captain and coach.

The service, described by many as a fitting tribute, featured soul-lifting hymns, heartfelt tributes, and a powerful sermon delivered by Bishop Christian Onyeka Onyia, who reminded the congregation that while death is often difficult to comprehend, it remains an inevitable part of life, and no one can question God’s timing.

Attendees reflected on Chukwu’s extraordinary contributions to Nigerian football, both as a player and coach, and his lasting impact on sports development in the country. The atmosphere was a blend of solemn reflection and celebration of a life well-lived.

The memorial events will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, with a Night of Tribute at the International Conference Center (ICC), Enugu, where more dignitaries and sports stakeholders are expected to pay their final respects.
