The Enugu East Local Government has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative, flagging off over 5.6km of road construction projects across two communities in the council area.
The ceremony commenced at Eziama Nike community in Mbulu Owehe ward, where a 1.8km road project was flagged off, marking the community’s first-ever asphalt road project. The development brought immense joy to residents, with the Community Chairman, Hon. Onyeka Okolo, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the Executive Chairman for his visionary leadership and numerous achievements. He noted that Eziama Nike was, for the first time in its history, witnessing the construction of an asphalt road after years of poor road conditions. He also thanked the Governor of Enugu State for impactful projects, citing the Enugu Smart Green School project that has benefited the community.
The Leader of Enugu East Legislative Council, Hon. Obumneme Eke, commended the Executive Chairman for prioritizing the needs of Eziama Nike and assured continuous support from Mbulu Owehe ward. The contractor, Engr. Ali of Tonimore Engineering Associates Ltd, promised timely delivery of the project to the highest quality standard.
The Executive Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Engr. Pst. Beloved-Dan Obi Anike, reiterated his administration’s commitment to serving the people, stressing that governance in Enugu State is on the rise under Governor Peter Mbah and that the council’s efforts aim to complement the governor’s work.
In a related development, the council boss was received by a jubilant crowd in Ibagwa Nike community, where another road project measuring 3.8km, including several internal roads, was flagged off. Speaking at the event, Hon. Chinonso Silas Ugwu, the BOT Chairman of Ibagwa Nike community, expressed appreciation for the chairman’s leadership.
Barr. Uche Mbaeke, Secretary of Enugu East Local Government and an indigene of the community, praised the chairman for impactful projects across the LGA, including the Greater Tomorrow Scholarship Scheme, the provision of two Hilux vehicles for the Deputy and Secretary of the council, and the new road project. He called for continued prayers for the chairman as he executes his duties.
The Executive Chairman thanked the people for their overwhelming support and pledged to use every available resource to deliver dividends of democracy, urging them to continue supporting Governor Peter Mbah’s administration.
The Traditional Ruler of Ibagwa Nike autonomous community, HRH Igwe Dr. Emmanuel Ugwu, lauded the chairman’s visionary leadership and assured him of the community’s commitment to his administration.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Chairman of Enugu East LGA, Hon. Engr. Kingsley Obi Anike, former Mayor of Enugu East LGA, Hon. Prince Alex Ugwu, and senior aides to the chairman.
