The Member Representing Igboetiti/Uzo Uwani Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Martins Oke, has reacted to a social Media report, indicating that four of his constituents had penultimate week, submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, seeking for recall of the Federal Lawmaker.
The Petitioners, namely: Chizoba Ugwuagbo, Clinton Ogbonna, Amah Sabinus and Onyekachi Okenwa Stephen had submitted a petition to the electoral umpire, seeking the recall of the parliamentarian.
The four individuals, had cited none Performance, lack of constituency engagements, incompetence and negligence of the Lawmaker's constituents' plights as grounds for their action.
But reacting to the Petition, Dr. Martins Oke, through his media representative, Solomon Gwiyi, dismissed the petition as an academic exercise, while describing the grounds of the petition as "tissues of lie, unverified reports, inaccurate information and deliberate misinformation of the unsuspecting public about the activities of Dr. Martins Oke.
Gwiyi listed the Lawmaker's recent activities at the Green Chamber to include his sponsorship of a Bill seeking creation of Adada State, as well as a Bill seeking the Federal government attention on the completion of Adada River Dam.
The Media rep also listed the Lawmaker's intervention in Uzo Uwani at the height of insecurity along Ukpata road.
He also cited the town Hall Meetings recently organized by the Federal Lawmaker, which was well attended by both men and women across the district.
He however, dismissed as false the claims by the petitioners that the Lawmaker does not have an office in the Constituency, while saying that the Constituency office of the Federal Lawmaker is furnished with modern equipments and is located at Aku, Igboetiti LGA.
His words: "It is important I inform this reader that on the 6th of September, 2024, on the floor of the Federal House of Representatives, that Dr. Martins had Sponsored "A BILL FOR AN ACT TO ALTER THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA 1999 (AS AMENDED) TO CREATE A NEW STATE IN THE SOUTH EAST GEOPOLITICAL ZONE OF NIGERIA KNOWN AS ADADA STATE AND FOR RELATED MATTERS.
"While presenting the bill, the Federal Lawmaker, had contended that Section 3(1) of the Principal Act is altered by substituting the words "thirty six in the first line with the words "thirty seven" and inserting the word "ADADA Immediately after the word "ABIA" to read as follows: Abia, Adada, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Bomo, Cross River, etcetera.
"On the issue of none engagement with constituents, let it be on record that Dr. Oke, had Verifiably, In a bid to boost agricultural productivity and empower his constituents, distributed three trucks of fertilizers to farmers on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
"The event, was held at Ogbede in Igboetiti LGA of Enugu State, and was attended by over 500 farmers, traditional rulers, and representatives from PRODA, ICPC, and the Federal Ministry of Special Duties.
"The program was aimed at equipping youths and women with skills in plantain cultivation and vocational training. Two resource persons provided training on business plans and practical farming processes, after which the participants received the fertilizers.
"Meanwhile, Dr. Martins Oke, on 21st of December, 2024, had also distributed over 3000 bags of rice to his constituents as part of his efforts to ensure a joyous Christmas and New Year celebration for families and other residents of the constituency alike.
"The items distributed during the function include 2,500 bags of 25KG of rice and 50 bags of 50KG of rice.
"Those who were on hand to receive the Christmas items form the Lawmaker across the 36 Council wards of the federal constituency include councilors, presidents-General of all the communities, the clergy, traditional rulers, among others.
"On the issue of no constituency office, it is worthy of note to state that Dr. Martins has his constituency office, well equiped with modern furniture, located at Aku in Igboetiti LGA of Enugu State and this can be verified by the naysayers whenever they want us to take them to the office, He concluded."
