The statewide grassroots mobilisation tour of G-17 For Peter Mbah has ended on a high note, with the movement recording what its leadership described as a landmark success across Enugu State’s 17 Local Government Areas and 260 political wards.
The tour, which featured the inauguration of Local Government and Ward Executives as well as Polling Unit Canvassers, brought G-17 face-to-face with political stakeholders, elected officials, community leaders, youths and women across the state.
From the first Local Government Area visited to the grand finale in Nkanu East, the tour generated growing attention around the structure, organisation and grassroots reach of G-17. However, one of the most remarkable moments came from Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, where the council Chairman, Hon. Barr. Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, not only declared his support for the movement but also donated a brand-new utility bus to facilitate its operations.
The gesture immediately stood out as one of the defining moments of the statewide tour, attracting attention beyond Igbo-Eze South and reinforcing the growing recognition of G-17's grassroots mobilisation activities.
Speaking during the inauguration in Ibagwa-Aka, Hon. Ukwueze described G-17 as a formidable grassroots structure and expressed satisfaction with the calibre of men and women brought into its fold.
He said the donation of the utility vehicle was intended to ease the movement and operations of the G-17 structure across Igbo-Eze South, particularly as the group intensifies ward-to-ward and polling-unit engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Chairman further pledged to work closely with the movement, expressing confidence that its grassroots structure would contribute significantly to the mobilisation and delivery of APC candidates.
The Igbo-Eze South episode became particularly significant because it demonstrated that the tour was not merely about inauguration ceremonies. In several Local Government Areas, G-17 received endorsements and commitments from political stakeholders who acknowledged the importance of building a strong grassroots structure ahead of future elections.
Across the 17 Local Government Areas, speakers repeatedly highlighted the importance of taking political engagement beyond rallies and billboards to communities, wards and polling units.
The movement's leadership also emphasised that the executives inaugurated during the tour were expected to translate their appointments into active grassroots engagement by taking the message of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's administration and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's policies directly to the people.
The Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, repeatedly reminded the newly inaugurated executives that their emergence was a call to service rather than a ceremonial exercise.
According to him, the real task begins after inauguration, with members expected to move from door to door, community to community and polling unit to polling unit, while mobilising eligible voters and sensitising residents on the importance of participating in the electoral process.
The 17-LGA tour also provided an opportunity for G-17 to showcase its distinctive approach to grassroots mobilisation. Rather than relying solely on conventional political rallies, the movement presented a structured network spanning Local Government Areas, wards and polling units.
Stakeholders who spoke at different locations described the structure as grassroots-oriented, while several political leaders pledged to collaborate with it ahead of the 2027 elections.
The tour culminated in Nkanu East Local Government Area, where the grand finale brought together a broad spectrum of political stakeholders, including the council Chairman and ALGON Chairman in Enugu State, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, state and local government APC leaders, elected representatives and G-17 officials.
At the grand finale, speakers reflected on the journey through the 17 Local Government Areas and commended the leadership of G-17 for completing the statewide mobilisation exercise.
For the leadership of the movement, the success of the tour was a testimony to the growing acceptance of structured grassroots mobilisation across Enugu State.
The development strides of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's administration also featured prominently throughout the tour, with speakers citing investments in education, healthcare, roads, security, transportation and other sectors as issues that could form part of the grassroots engagement with residents.
The G-17 leadership attributed the successful completion of the statewide exercise to the enabling environment created by Governor Peter Mbah, the commitment of Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah and his leadership team, as well as the cooperation and support received from Local Government Chairmen across the state.
The Igbo-Eze South utility-vehicle donation, however, remains one of the clearest symbols of the level of stakeholder engagement generated by the tour. It transformed what could have been another inauguration ceremony into a demonstration of practical support for grassroots mobilisation.
As the movement moves beyond the 17-LGA inauguration phase, attention is now expected to shift towards consolidating the newly established structures, strengthening ward and polling-unit operations and sustaining engagement with stakeholders and residents across Enugu State.
With executives now inaugurated across all 17 Local Government Areas and 260 wards, G-17 For Peter Mbah has completed the first major phase of its statewide grassroots expansion and is positioning itself for the next stage of political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
