Ogene Romanus Chizoba, Reporting From Abuja:
In a major international recognition of her years of humanitarian service, women empowerment advocacy and community leadership, renowned development advocate Amb. Onyinye Joy Mamah has been officially nominated as the Enugu State Chapter President of The Abrahamic Movement, Nigeria Chapter, following a comprehensive leadership assessment by the Global Abrahamic Movement (GAM), an international peacebuilding organisation headquartered in the United States of America.
The nomination, conveyed through an official letter signed by the Executive National Secretary of The Abrahamic Movement, Nigeria Chapter, Prof. Adamu Shaffa, places the Enugu-born humanitarian among a growing network of global leaders entrusted with advancing peace, reconciliation, interfaith cooperation and sustainable development across Africa.
According to the nomination letter, Amb. Mamah's appointment is a recognition of her outstanding dedication to humanitarian service, women empowerment, mentorship and community development qualities the Movement described as being in perfect alignment with its global vision of "Healing Historical Wounds • Building Bridges • Sustaining Peace."
The letter expressed confidence that her wealth of leadership experience would significantly strengthen the organisation's presence in Enugu State while advancing its peacebuilding agenda.
"We are confident that Amb. Onyinye Joy Mamah will contribute greatly to advancing our mission and strengthening the Movement in Enugu State," the nomination letter stated.
The nomination is regarded by observers as another milestone in Amb. Mamah's expanding profile as one of Nigeria's leading voices on women's inclusion, grassroots development and humanitarian advocacy.
She currently serves as the Executive Director of Heroine Women Foundation and President of Women Support Women for Human Empowerment and Mentorship Initiative (WOSUWO), organisations through which she has championed numerous programmes focused on empowering women, mentoring young people, supporting vulnerable families and promoting social justice across communities.
Her appointment also underscores the confidence reposed in her by an international organisation whose influence extends across several continents.
The African Abrahamic Movement (AAM) operates under the umbrella of the Global Abrahamic Movement (GAM), with its Global Headquarters in the United States, a Central Diplomatic Secretariat in Israel, and an Africa Continental Regional Office in Abuja, Nigeria. The organisation works with diplomatic institutions and global partners to promote peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, reconciliation, good governance and international cooperation.
Its philosophy is built on fostering unity among followers of Christianity, Islam and Judaism while encouraging nations and communities to transform historical divisions into opportunities for reconciliation, mutual understanding and sustainable development.
"I am thrilled and proud to share with you another significant step in the global expansion of the Abrahamic movement!
I am pleased to officially announce the appointment of Ambassador Onyinye Joy Mamah to the position of Ambassador to Enugu State of the Abrahamic movement in Nigeria.
Onyinye is an exceptional social leader with a rich and proven track record in humanitarian work. She serves as the Director General of the "Heroine Women" Fund and the President of the "WOSUWO" initiative for the empowerment of women, youth, and community development. Her dedication to the field and to the people is exactly the kind of leadership we are looking for to bring about real change.
Her experience and commitment are perfectly aligned with the three core principles of our movement: Healing of historical wounds. Building bridges Establishing sustainable peace, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our branch in Nigeria, Prof. Adamu Shaffa, and to the entire local team for the amazing and dedicated work they are doing in building our infrastructure and expanding our influence in the country. Join me in wishing Onyinye great success in her new and important role! The Abrahamic movement family continues to grow", said the International President, Tom Wegner.
The organisation believes that enduring peace is achieved through dialogue, education, diplomacy and collaborative leadership rather than rhetoric, making leadership appointments highly selective and based on demonstrated commitment to humanity and social transformation.
For many who have followed Amb. Mamah's career, the nomination comes as no surprise.
Fondly described by admirers as "a voice for the voiceless" and "a pillar of hope for women and vulnerable groups," she has built an enviable reputation through years of consistent humanitarian interventions and advocacy.
Beyond leading WOSUWO and the Heroine Women Foundation, she has remained at the forefront of campaigns promoting gender inclusion, mentorship, youth development and community empowerment throughout Enugu State and beyond.
Her leadership credentials have continued to attract national and international recognition.
She recently emerged unopposed as Chairperson of Advocacy of the Civil Society–Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), a coalition driving nutrition-focused interventions and policy advocacy in Nigeria.
She also serves as an Advisory Member of the G100 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Wing State Advisory Council for Enugu State under the auspices of the All Ladies League (ALL), joining an international network of distinguished women advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through advocacy and collaborative action.
Within the political and civic space, Amb. Mamah has equally distinguished herself as a passionate advocate for increased women's participation in governance.
Through the Loudest Voices for Peter Mbah platform, she mobilised women groups across Enugu State to advocate greater female representation in elective offices while consistently championing affirmative action and inclusive leadership.
Stakeholders within civil society say the latest international nomination reflects not only her personal achievements but also the growing global recognition of grassroots leaders whose work continues to transform communities through compassion, service and inclusive development.
With her emergence as the pioneer head of The Abrahamic Movement in Enugu State, expectations are high that she will strengthen interfaith collaboration, promote peaceful coexistence and deepen community-based initiatives that advance reconciliation, human development and sustainable peace.
Her nomination further reinforces Enugu State's growing reputation as a breeding ground for leaders making significant contributions on the global stage through diplomacy, humanitarian service and transformational leadership.
