The Umukoloma Development Union (UDU), under the leadership of Chief Michael Ani, on behalf of the family, sons, and daughters of the late Chief Nweke Fidelis Amadi (Ifechibutalu I of Affa), has formally invited the general public to the burial funeral rites of the respected community elder and patriarch. The announcement was made by the Umukoloma community in Affa, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, as preparations intensify to honour a life defined by integrity, industry, and service.
Late Chief Nweke Fidelis Amadi, who passed on 31st March 2025 after a brief illness, lived a long and fulfilled life, attaining the age of 94 years (1931–2025). He was a building contractor and farmer of repute, whose work took him far and wide across Nigeria, where he lived and worked in several parts of the country. He was widely known as a prudent and principled man who detested lies, shunned evil and conspiracy, and spoke the truth without fear or favour, regardless of whose interest was affected.
A devoted family man, the late patriarch was the only begotten son of his late parent, chief Ezebuilo Amadi and late Mrs Nkenwakubuko Ezebuilo of blessed memores and was blessed with eight children, five sons and three daughters, forty-six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, leaving behind a strong family structure built on discipline, honesty, and mutual respect. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Virginia Gwachiokwu Amadi (née Onumadu of Akuvuo), who is alive, hale, and hearty.
His children include Mr. Innocent Amadi, the first son, a businessman based in Abuja; Chief Hon. Peter Amadi O. (Eze Udene 1 of Espana), the second son, former President of the Black Race Union AndalucÃa Spain, one time aspirant for the Enugu State House of Assembly for Udi North State Constituency, and the Founder and Coordinator of Affa Achallaukwu Ezumezu, a widely followed urban radio programme broadcast from Enugu to Western Europe; Comrade Aloy Chinedu Amadi, fourth son and Managing Director of Amason Worldwide Ltd, Kaduna State; Chief Anthony Onyekachukwu Amadi, a businessman based in Grand Canary, Tenerife, Spain; and Hon. Emmanuel Emeka Amadi, a former Special Adviser to the Chairman of Udi Local Government Council, former member of the Udi Local Government Security and Safety Management Committee, and Founder and Director-General of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM), Enugu State Chapter, a prominent political support group established in 2019 that mobilised grassroots support for Senator Ike Ekweremadu and Governor Peter Mbah across the 17 LGA and the 260 electoral ward of Enugu State and during the 2023 general elections and subsequent governance.
His daughters are Miss Ifeoma Christiana Nwajuo, the first daughter (popularly known as Ada Malaysia); Miss Ogochukwu Monica Eligbuo, the second daughter; and Miss Ijeoma Maria Udeh, the last daughter.
Official burial programme released by the family reads: “With grief of soul and total submission to the will of Almighty God, the family of Late Chief Nweke Fidelis Amadi of Umukoloma Affa Village in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State announces the Funeral Ceremony of our beloved Father, Husband, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Father-in-law, and Grandfather, Late Chief Nweke Fidelis Amadi (a.k.a Ifechibutalu), who died on 31st March 2025 after a brief illness.”
According to the burial schedule, a wake-keep will hold on Monday, 5th January 2026, at 5:00pm at his residence, while the funeral ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 6th January 2026, by 8:00am at his village, Umukoloma, Affa. The programme concludes with prayers that his gentle soul may rest in the bosom of the Lord.
The burial announcement was signed on behalf of the family by Chief Hon. Peter Amadi. As Umukoloma community, friends, associates, and well-wishers gather for the final rites, the ceremony is expected to be a solemn and dignified celebration of the life and legacy of Chief Nweke Fidelis Amadi, a man remembered for truthfulness, hard work, and unwavering moral conviction.
