The Wife of the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Mrs Rita Edeh, has poured out heartfelt appreciation and commendation for the First Lady of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, describing her as a mother with a rare depth of compassion whose impact continues to be felt across communities in Enugu State.
In an emotionally charged message delivered on behalf of women across Enugu State, Mrs Edeh praised the First Lady’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, noting that her actions have consistently translated empathy into meaningful interventions that uplift women, protect children, and restore dignity to the elderly.
According to Mrs Edeh, the First Lady’s leadership transcends ceremonial duties, reflecting a genuine passion for the well-being of the most vulnerable. She highlighted Mrs Mbah’s sustained advocacy for women empowerment through skills acquisition, economic support initiatives, mentorship, and awareness programmes that have helped many women rediscover confidence, independence, and purpose.
She also commended the First Lady’s strong commitment to child welfare and protection, referencing her consistent stance against child abuse, exploitation, and violence, as well as her support for sensitisation programmes that educate children, parents, and communities on safety, rights, and responsibility. Mrs Edeh described these efforts as “acts of a mother who understands that the future of Enugu lies in how well its children are nurtured, protected, and guided today.”
Mrs Edeh further applauded the First Lady’s compassion for senior citizens, particularly through programmes that provide financial support, healthcare access, and emotional reassurance to the elderly. She noted that these initiatives have restored hope to many older persons, reminding them that their sacrifices are remembered and honoured.
Special mention was made of the First Lady’s consistent presence during moments of both joy and sorrow, including her hospital visits to celebrate newborns, comfort grieving mothers, and support families during critical times. Mrs Edeh described these gestures as deeply human, saying they reflect a heart that leads with love and service.
In her message, Mrs Edeh also acknowledged that the First Lady’s impactful work is firmly rooted in the broader vision of the Enugu State Government under the leadership of her husband, His Excellency, Barrister Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State. She praised the Governor’s development strides across infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and economic revitalisation, noting that Enugu State is witnessing visible transformation driven by purposeful leadership and people-centred policies.
She observed that the synergy between the Governor’s reform-driven administration and the First Lady’s compassionate outreach has created a governance atmosphere where progress is felt not only in projects and policies but also in the daily lives of citizens, especially women and vulnerable groups.
Speaking on behalf of Enugu women, Mrs Rita Edeh expressed profound gratitude to the First Lady for being a consistent voice, shield, and source of encouragement. She described Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah as “a mother to the state, a pillar of hope to women, a defender of children, and a comfort to the elderly,” whose legacy is being written in lives touched, tears wiped, and dreams restored.
She concluded by reaffirming the prayers and unwavering support of women across Enugu State for the First Lady and her husband, the Governor, expressing confidence that their leadership will continue to steer the state toward inclusive growth, compassion-driven governance, and a future filled with hope and dignity for all.
