The United States has delivered military supplies to Nigerian security agencies in support of ongoing security operations across the country.

The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), which disclosed that the consignment arrived in Abuja.

According to AFRICOM, the supplies are intended to strengthen Nigeria’s operational capacity and reinforce the long-standing security partnership between both countries. The command noted that the delivery underscores the shared commitment of Nigeria and the United States to addressing security challenges and enhancing regional stability.

Nigeria has in recent months witnessed a surge in insecurity, marked by widespread kidnappings and attacks in several parts of the country.

It will be recalled that U.S. forces carried out airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in North-West Nigeria on Christmas Day as part of efforts to weaken extremist groups operating in the region.
