The Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, has officially flagged off the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) Sensitization Program, an initiative aimed at mobilizing eligible voters and strengthening democratic participation in the council area.

The well-attended ceremony, held at the Enugu North LGA Council Secretariat on September 16, 2025, doubled as a platform to reaffirm loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and unwavering support for the transformational leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

The event attracted the leadership of the PDP in the state, including the State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the Deputy Chairman, Barr. Steve Oruruo, and members of the party’s State Executive Council.

In his address, Hon. Dr. Onoh emphasized that voter sensitization remains critical to sustaining democracy. He urged residents of Enugu North to collect their PVCs and make their voices count at the polls. Highlighting the progress achieved in the LGA, he noted that the local government’s projects align seamlessly with Governor Mbah’s broader vision of service, growth, and transformational governance.

“The PVC sensitization is critical to our democratic process. We want our people not just aware but fully mobilized. At the end of this exercise, we will consolidate the gains of good governance and strengthen democracy in Enugu North,” Dr. Onoh declared.

Speakers at the event also showcased Governor Mbah’s achievements, describing him as a visionary leader who has transformed key sectors of the state within a short period. They pointed to initiatives such as the establishment of smart schools, massive investments in hospitality and tourism, the revamp of the transport system, and the construction of critical road networks, all geared towards building a modern and globally competitive Enugu.

PDP Deputy Chairman, Barr. Steve Oruruo, underscored the significance of Enugu North as the state’s most sensitive business hub, stressing that voter mobilization in the area would be pivotal for future electoral victories.

On his part, PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, commended Hon. Dr. Onoh and the LGA leadership for their commitment to strengthening democracy. He urged residents to collect their PVCs and mobilize others, stating that the difference between Governor Mbah and other political candidates was like “light and darkness.
