The Rivers State House of Assembly has directed Governor Siminialayi Fubara to submit the names of commissioner nominees for the reconstitution of the State Executive Council.

The lawmakers also asked him to present an appropriation bill that will guide government spending for the remainder of the year, following the expiration of the six-month emergency rule in the state.

The directive was issued on Thursday during plenary in Port Harcourt, where members unanimously adopted a motion seeking a review of how funds were spent during the emergency period.

The Assembly, which last sat on March 12 before the emergency declaration, noted that several contracts were awarded and projects funded without legislative input. They stressed the need to assess financial records and restore full democratic processes in the state.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule confirmed after the session that the Assembly would officially write to the governor to communicate its resolution.
