The creative landscape in Enugu State is set for another major leap as the Enugu SME Center, under the visionary leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has announced the commencement of Batch 2 of the Enugu Magic Labs Animation Training (EMAT). This groundbreaking initiative is part of the “Tomorrow is Here” agenda, designed to transform young talents into globally recognized creators in the fast-rising animation industry.

Following the resounding success of Batch 1, which empowered hundreds of youths—many of whom are now freelancing internationally, working with major studios, and even building their own startups—Batch 2 promises to be bigger, bolder, and more intentional.

With over 400 slots available, successful applicants will enjoy up to 80% subsidized training in cutting-edge digital creative skills such as:

  • 2D Illustration
  • 3D Motion Design

The program is powered in partnership with Magic City Labs, whose mentors have trained students currently working with global industry giants such as Netflix, Disney, Triggerfish, and top African studios.

According to the SME Center, “No prior experience is required—just creativity, curiosity, and commitment. This is a golden chance for Enugu youths to turn their passion into global opportunities.”

The training is strictly open to Enugu State residents and indigenes, reflecting Governor Mbah’s commitment to inclusive human capital development and youth empowerment.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply via www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/emat before slots are filled.

The initiative is more than just a training program; it is a deliberate strategy to position Enugu as a hub of Africa’s creative economy, where innovation meets opportunity and local talent transforms into global success stories.

For many who missed Batch 1, Batch 2 offers a second chance to step into the future of digital storytelling.

“Animation is more than art—it’s a passport to the global creative economy.”
