BREAKING!! APC Enugu East Stakeholders Endorse Governor Peter Mbah for Second Term, Push for His 2027 APC Candidacy | PHOTOS

....“We have seen a governor who works, a governor who delivers. The APC in Enugu East is not blind to good governance. Our call is simple: Governor Peter Mbah must come over to the APC where his vision will be fully supported to serve Enugu people for another four years beyond 2027,” Nwoye stated to thunderous applause.

Dr Ben Nwoye led stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu East Senatorial District on Saturday endorsed Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term in office and urged him to formally join the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The high-stakes meeting, which held at Ozom Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, drew key APC leaders from the Nkanu-dominated senatorial zone and influential party chieftains across the state. The gathering, convened by former Enugu State APC Chairman Dr. Ben Nwoye (Udede Okwanka), retired military officer H.E. Gen. Ugwu Sunday, and frontline party stalwart Hon. Maduka Nelson Arum (Mama Malaga), had a single bold agenda: rallying full support for Governor Mbah to defect to the APC and emerge as the party’s governorship candidate in the next election cycle.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ben Nwoye praised Governor Mbah’s transformative leadership in Enugu State, describing his performance in infrastructure renewal, economic expansion, and human capital development as “beyond party lines and worthy of continuity.” He declared that the APC in Enugu East was ready to offer the governor a solid platform to secure a second term, insisting that the state’s future must not be sacrificed on the altar of partisan rivalry.

“We have seen a governor who works, a governor who delivers. The APC in Enugu East is not blind to good governance. Our call is simple: Governor Peter Mbah must come over to the APC where his vision will be fully supported to serve Enugu people for another four years beyond 2027,” Nwoye stated to thunderous applause.

Other speakers, including Gen. Ugwu Sunday (Rtd) and Hon. Maduka Nelson Arum, echoed Nwoye’s sentiment, commending Mbah for “raising the bar of governance” in Enugu and pledging that the APC would provide the political machinery to guarantee his re-election if he accepts the invitation to join the party.

The endorsement, coming barely two years into Governor Mbah’s first term, is seen by analysts as a calculated move by APC leaders to reposition the party in a state traditionally dominated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It also signals growing admiration for the governor’s policies, which have attracted cross-party recognition.

Governor Mbah, who is yet to publicly respond to the call, remains a member of the PDP. However, today’s development suggests that the battle for Enugu’s 2027 governorship ticket may transcend old party boundaries, setting the stage for an intriguing political contest in the months ahead.

Political observers say the APC’s overture underscores a rare consensus that effective governance should override partisan loyalty, with stakeholders betting that Mbah’s entry into the APC could finally tilt the balance of power in Enugu in favour of the opposition at the national level.
