The tension surrounding the alleged kidnapping of Pharmacist Caleb in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State has taken a frightening turn as the abductors have reportedly demanded a ₦50 million ransom for his release.

A close source to the victim’s family, who pleaded anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, revealed late Sunday night that the kidnappers made contact and issued the demand during a brief and unsettling phone call. The source disclosed that the abductors warned the family against involving security operatives, threatening dire consequences if their instructions are not followed.

This shocking update comes barely 24 hours after Pharmacist Caleb was allegedly seized by unidentified gunmen along the Ohebe-Agu–Orba Road on Saturday evening around 5 p.m., in what residents described as yet another violent strike in a region already on edge following the recent murder of Rev. Father Matthew Eya.

The fresh ransom demand has deepened the climate of fear gripping the once peaceful Udenu axis, where locals say criminal gangs now operate with increasing audacity. Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the latest development, but discreet efforts to track the abductors and secure the victim’s safe return are believed to be underway.

Family members and community leaders are appealing to the Enugu State Government and federal security authorities to act swiftly, warning that the escalating wave of killings and kidnappings could spiral out of control if urgent and decisive action is not taken.
