Gunmen Abduct Top FRSC Officer, Security On High Alert
The Benue State chapter of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the abduction of one of its officers, Nathaniel Kumashe, by armed assailants.
The incident was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, Ngozi Ahula, in Makurdi late Thursday night. Ahula stated that Kumashe, who works in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area (LGA), was taken at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
According to Ahula, Kumashe was kidnapped at his home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, within Tarka LGA, shortly after returning from the wake of a deceased cousin. The attackers fired shots to intimidate Kumashe’s family and neighbors before abducting him.
Local youths launched a search throughout the night, but the kidnappers had already fled the scene. Sources revealed that officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the area also joined in the search efforts. It is believed that Kumashe was taken to a location used by kidnappers in the neighboring Guma LGA.
