Another Historical milestone was recorded in the administration of Dr. Vita Ndu the Executive Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area as he launches the LG Transformation scheme tagged EZEAGU IGBUDU MASS TRANSIT. This transportation initiative is aimed at improving mobility and reducing commuting costs for residents. The initiative marks the revival of the Local Government’s transportation system, which has been moribond for over three decades.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Vita Ndu expressed gratitude to God and to all invited guests while emphasizing that the project is designed to ease transportation burden and serve Ndi Ezeagu efficiently. He reiterated the importance of accessibility and mobility in driving economic and social development in the area. He used the opportunity to appreciate the galaxy of resource persons in his team for sacricing their professional and business comfort zones for the betterment of Ndi Ezeagu through quality service delivery.
Special Assistant on Works, Engr. Victor Udeani, highlighted the economic benefits of the Ezeagu Igbudu Mass Transit, noting that the scheme will not only enhance local commerce but will also operate on a shared-profit model on the people and the Local Government while ensuring its sustainability.
Renowned scholar and cleric, Very Rev. Fr Prof. Christian Anieke, the Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, commended Dr. Ndu for his transformative leadership. He lauded the chairman for spearheading numerous developmental projects, including road construction at Agba Umana-Ebenebe- Ugwu Nwamgbara, which is expected to improve security and mobility, as well as initiatives in agriculture, skill acquisition, renovation of Igbudu Lodge, and financial services—such as the establishment of a bank in Aguobu Owa. He emphasized that transportation is a key driver of development, enabling both the movement of people and goods. He equally appreciated Dr. Ndu for selecting the best hands and brains to support his administration. He enjoined him as a scholar to make Ezeagu great again based on his choice from among numerous contestants.
Also speaking at the event, His Royal Highness Igwe Ambassador Lawrence Agubuzor, praised Dr. Ndu’s administration, stating that Ndi Ezeagu are witnessing unprecedented progress under his leadership. "The gaps that have long existed in Ezeagu are now being filled under Dr. Ndu’s governance," he remarked.
Dr. Obi Ozor, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Transportation Enugu State, thanked the executive chairman for this wonderful initiative stating that Dr. Ndu has keyed into the vision of his Excellency's Barr. Peter N. Mbah to boost transportation in the State with the construction of state of the art terminals and other Investments in the sector. The Hon. Commissioner who was ably represented by Mr Kachi Ibekwe emphasized the importance of transportation in economic revitalization, Job creation, and service delivery. He expressed the Ministry's preparedness to collaborate with the Council on areas of mutual benefit to both parties. He emphasized that he is pleased with Ndi Ezeagu for taking the lead in line with the vision of the State Government on using transportation to enhance economic growth.
The event was attended by State and Local Government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders, all of whom applauded the initiative as a historic step towards infrastructural and economic revitalization in Ezeagu.
With the launch of Ezeagu Igbudu Mass Transit scheme the people of Ezeagu can now look forward to a more affordable, efficient, and sustainable transportation system that will enhance mobility, trade, and overall development in our Area.
