...Tournament promotes grassroots sports, youth empowerment and community unity, reinforces APC mobilisation
Rhe Enugu North Local Government Area has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots sports development and youth empowerment with the flag-off of the Coal Camp Traders Association Football Tournament, popularly known as the “Tinker’s League,” at St. Peter’s Field, Coal Camp, Enugu.
The tournament, flagged off on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, attracted community stakeholders, traders and football enthusiasts, providing a platform for young people to showcase their talents, build friendships and promote unity through sports.
The event was attended by Hon. Chimaobi Atu, Member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, alongside other stakeholders.
Beyond its sporting objectives, the tournament also served as an avenue for political engagement, with organisers taking the progressive All Progressives Congress (APC) message to youths in Coal Camp. Traders and residents reportedly expressed appreciation for the sponsorship and declared support for the APC at all levels.
The initiative aligns with Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s Tomorrow Is Here vision, which emphasises youth empowerment, community development and the creation of opportunities for residents across Enugu State.
The organisers commended the participating teams and wished them a peaceful and successful competition, expressing optimism that the tournament would strengthen community bonds and encourage greater youth participation in sports.
Tomorrow Is Here!
