_...ALGON Chairman Declares G-17 Enugu's No.1 Grassroots Political Structure; APC Leaders, Stakeholders Adopt Movement Ahead of 2027_

The statewide grassroots mobilisation campaign of G-17 For Peter Mbah came to a historic and colourful conclusion on Friday, July 24, 2026, as political leaders, party stakeholders and thousands of supporters converged at the Nkanu East Local Government Secretariat, Amagunze, for the grand finale of the inauguration of the movement's 17 Local Government Executives, 260 Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers across Enugu State.

The event, which marked the successful completion of G-17's tour of all the seventeen local government areas of Enugu State, witnessed unprecedented attendance by top APC leaders, elected public office holders, party executives, traditional rulers, women, youths and grassroots mobilisers, who unanimously described the movement as the most organised and formidable grassroots political structure in the state.

Welcoming the leadership of G-17, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, thanked the leadership of the movement for bringing the grand finale to Nkanu East.

He described G-17 as the number one political support group in Enugu State with an unmatched record of grassroots mobilisation and election delivery.

"As ALGON Chairman, I can confidently say G-17 has distinguished itself as the number one grassroots political support group in Enugu State. The structure, discipline and organisation we have witnessed across the seventeen local government areas are remarkable," he stated.

Hon. Edeh disclosed that the Chairmen of Local Government Councils across Enugu State had embraced the G-17 model of mobilisation and assured that both himself and his successor would continue working closely with the movement to secure the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

"I will hand over office in September, but I will not hand over my commitment to Governor Peter Mbah. Together with my successor, we shall continue working with G-17 to ensure that Nkanu East not only retains the votes recorded in the last election but delivers even more votes for Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027," he declared.

Describing Governor Peter Mbah as "the son of the soil," the ALGON Chairman insisted that Nkanu East required no campaign to support the Governor.

"Nkanu East has already been converted. Nobody needs to tell us to vote for our son. We are prepared, we are waiting and we shall reward Governor Peter Mbah with overwhelming votes."

He further revealed that Governor Peter Mbah's transformational leadership inspired his own administration to embark on landmark projects, including the ongoing 200,000-capacity ultra-modern civic hall, over 13 kilometres of roads, the completion of the Ugbawka-Nara Bridge, and several development projects spread across the fourteen political wards of the local government.

Representing Nkanu East Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Okechukwu Mbah (Okey Di Okay) congratulated G-17 for successfully completing the mobilisation exercise across the state.

"Our son, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, and his team have done a wonderful job. This once again proves that Nkanu East always produces the very best. We produced the best Governor in Africa, and today we have produced the best grassroots political movement."

He described the newly inaugurated executives as genuine grassroots mobilisers and expressed hope that members of G-17 would be remembered and rewarded for their sacrifices after the elections.

The APC Chairmanship Candidate for Nkanu East Local Government Area, Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, thanked the Director-General for restoring G-17 to its original vision and purpose.

"The movement has returned to the hands of those who understand its purpose. What I have seen today confirms that G-17 is a truly grassroots-based political structure. I assure you that my administration will work closely with G-17 to ensure total victory for APC in 2027," he pledged.

Also speaking, the Personal Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State and President of Tomorrow Is Here Movement, Chief Tony Okonkwo, commended the movement's leadership for what he described as excellent grassroots political engineering.

"What G-17 is doing is commendable. Looking at this structure, I am convinced that the victory of APC candidates in 2027 is already assured."

The Enugu State APC Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs. Esther Edeh, described G-17 as a movement proving beyond doubt that it is the leading grassroots political organisation in Enugu State.

"I deliberately came here to witness this grand finale because of the remarkable work G-17 is doing across the state. The party now has less work to do because G-17 has already taken mobilisation to every ward and community. We shall continue supporting this movement."

The Deputy Chairman of APC in Enugu State, Hon. Amb. Peace Patrick, praised the leadership of G-17 for remaining faithful to its founding philosophy.

"When G-17 was being formed, I advised its leadership to avoid multiple memberships. Today, I am proud they listened. They refused to recruit members already belonging to other support groups, making this movement unique, disciplined and focused. I came personally to commend them for maintaining that principle."

Representing the Enugu State APC Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chukwunweike, the State Organising Secretary applauded G-17 for complementing the activities of the party across the state.

"G-17 has made the work of the party much easier by bringing fresh grassroots mobilisers into active politics. These are additional political assets for APC. We regard G-17 as the number one support group among the numerous political support organisations operating in Enugu State."

Representing Senator Kelvin Chukwu, his Chief of Staff conveyed the Senator's goodwill and reaffirmed his unwavering support for the movement.

"He asked me to assure G-17 that he appreciates the excellent work being done. With this structure on ground, the victory of APC candidates, including his own future political aspirations, is guaranteed."

The South-East APC Women Leader, Dr. Mrs. Oby Ajih, disclosed that she adjusted her busy schedule to ensure she attended the grand finale.

"I missed the Igbo-Eze North inauguration and I was determined not to miss this grand finale. G-17 is no longer just the number one support group in Enugu State; it is becoming a model for the entire South-East. The APC leadership in the zone is following your activities closely."

She praised Governor Peter Mbah's developmental achievements and urged Nkanu East residents to continue supporting their son.

"No Governor in the South-East has recorded this level of transformation. We in the South-East APC shall continue working with G-17."

The State Youth Leader of G-17, Hon. Nnamdi Odoh, assured party leaders that youths across Enugu State remained fully committed to delivering Governor Peter Mbah, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections through aggressive grassroots mobilisation.

The Secretary-General of G-17, Hon. Chidi Eze, described the current political atmosphere as unfavourable for the opposition.

"This is certainly not the time for the opposition because Governor Peter Mbah has rendered every campaign promise meaningless through visible performance. Nkanu has consistently produced visionary leaders—from Dr. Jim Nwobodo to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani and now Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. We truly produce the best."

He noted that if not for the zoning arrangement, many people would have wished Nkanu East continued producing governors because of the quality of leadership emerging from the area.

Speaking on behalf of women nationwide, the National Women Leader of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Princess Chinelo Ogbata Ejorh, urged women across Nkanu East and Enugu State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and sustain their support for Governor Peter Mbah.

She reminded them that women and children remain among the greatest beneficiaries of the administration through free education in Smart Green Schools and improved maternal healthcare provided in the Type-C Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.

Delivering the keynote address, the Convener, Board of Trustees Chairman and Director-General of G-17 For Peter Mbah, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, described the occasion as a historic milestone for the movement.

"First and foremost, I return all glory to Almighty God for granting us the grace to successfully complete this historic mobilisation tour across all the seventeen Local Government Areas of Enugu State. Today's event marks the grand finale of that remarkable journey."

He thanked Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh for his unwavering support throughout the exercise and appreciated all Local Government Chairmen across the state for providing the enabling environment that made the statewide tour successful.

"I sincerely thank every Local Government Chairman for embracing G-17. Your support demonstrates your belief in genuine grassroots mobilisation."

Hon. Dr. Mbah also appreciated every member of G-17 from the state executive to the ward and polling-unit structures.

"Your sacrifices will never be in vain. I know who you are working for. Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is an action-oriented leader who believes in rewarding commitment and performance."

The Director-General reiterated that G-17 remains a disciplined, organic grassroots political structure whose members do not belong to multiple support groups.

"The same standard applied in every Local Government Area. Our members are carefully selected, sworn into office and committed solely to G-17. That is why those calling us the number one support group are not making a mistake."

He also expressed profound appreciation to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whom he described as the Grand Patron of G-17, for providing the enabling political environment that made the statewide mobilisation possible.

Addressing the people of Nkanu East, Hon. Dr. Mbah maintained that the movement was not in the council to campaign but to inaugurate executives because the people already understood the Governor's achievements.

"We are not here to campaign for our son. Nkanu East knows what Governor Peter Mbah has done. Our assignment here is simply to inaugurate a structure that will sustain grassroots engagement while other local government areas emulate your example."

Congratulating the newly inaugurated executives, he reminded them that the inauguration represented a call to service rather than a ceremonial event.

"You have accepted responsibility. Your assignment begins immediately. Move from polling unit to polling unit, ward to ward and community to community, informing our people about the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Victory is built from the grassroots."

The successful conclusion of the seventeen-local-government mobilisation tour marked another significant milestone in the political expansion of G-17 For Peter Mbah, further consolidating its reputation as one of the most organised grassroots political movements in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Unlike conventional support groups, G-17 For Peter Mbah operates as a disciplined grassroots political structure whose members are carefully selected, inaugurated and required to possess valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). The movement has continued to distinguish itself through its ward-to-ward, polling-unit-based mobilisation strategy, making it one of the fastest-growing political structures across Enugu State.

The ceremony climaxed with the inauguration of the Nkanu East Local Government Executives, Ward Executives and Polling Unit Canvassers, who pledged to immediately commence intensive grassroots mobilisation across the fourteen political wards of the council in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
