Some women supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have protested over alleged poor treatment during a primary election exercise, claiming they were paid only N1,000 for participation.

The women, who spoke in Hausa in a viral video, expressed anger over the worsening economic hardship in the country and warned party leaders that such treatment of grassroots supporters could affect the party’s chances in future elections if urgent corrections are not made.

In the video, the protesters repeatedly insisted that “N1,000 election is not an election,” stressing that they could no longer accept such payment for political participation.

One of the women condemned party leaders for what she described as insensitivity to the struggles of ordinary citizens, especially women and youths facing rising transport costs and economic hardship.

She explained that many of them spent almost the same amount on transportation to attend the exercise.

“Even if they call us now and give us N1,000, it is not an election,” she said.

She further alleged that some participants were later given only N600, worsening their frustration.

The protesters called on APC leaders to urgently address the grievances of grassroots members, warning that continued neglect could have political consequences in future elections.

The incident reflects growing public frustration over inflation, high transport costs, and worsening living conditions across Nigeria.
