The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) of Federal Government College (FGC) Enugu, under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah (Dike Eji Eje Mba Na Enugu), has formally invited members of the general public, education stakeholders, parents, alumni, and well-wishers to a landmark event marking another major stride in the transformation of the college.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026, will feature the commissioning of an ultra-modern pavilion and the foundation-laying ceremony of new staff quarters within the school premises. The occasion is expected to attract distinguished personalities from government, traditional institutions, and the religious community, underscoring the national importance of the development taking place at the Unity College.
The Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, will serve as the Chairman of the Occasion, lending strong local government support to the initiative. The ceremony will also be graced by the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, who will attend as the Special Guest of Honour, reflecting the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to infrastructural development in Unity Schools.
Also expected at the event is the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as Guest of Honour, a development widely viewed as a testament to the synergy between the Enugu State Government and federal educational institutions within the state.
Providing spiritual guidance for the occasion will be the Bishop of Enugu Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Prof. Obiajulu Ike, who will serve as the Spiritual Father of the Day, while royal blessings will be offered by HRM Igwe Ikechukwu Samuel Asadu (Ogadagidi), Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, as the Royal Father of the Day.
The Director/Principal of FGC Enugu, Mr. Ezekiel Onyeka Ogbuanya, will host the event as Chief Host, in collaboration with the PTA Chairman, Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah, who will serve as Host.
Education observers note that the projects to be unveiled are part of a broader vision championed by Hon. Dr. Chinedu Mbah to strengthen infrastructure, improve staff welfare, and create a more conducive learning environment for students. The development follows his historic visit to the then Honourable Minister of State for Education on October 15, 2024, during which he solicited urgent federal intervention to address critical infrastructural challenges confronting the college.
The commissioning of the pavilion and the commencement of staff quarters construction are widely regarded as tangible outcomes of sustained advocacy, strategic engagement, and collaborative leadership by the PTA under Hon. Dr. Mbah.
As preparations reach top gear, the PTA Chairman has called on members of the public to turn out en masse to witness what he described as “a defining moment in the history of Federal Government College Enugu and a renewed commitment to educational excellence.”
