The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced that it experienced a partial system collapse on Thursday, leading to widespread power outages across Nigeria’s South-East region.
In a notice issued on February 19, 2026, the company disclosed that the incident occurred at about 11:54 a.m., disrupting electricity supply to customers served by its subsidiary companies.
According to a statement by Emeka Ezeh, Group Head, Corporate Communications, the affected subsidiaries include MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra, and EastLand, all of which currently have customers experiencing outages as a result of the system failure.
EEDC stated that the exact cause of the partial system collapse has yet to be determined. However, the company assured customers that it remains on standby and is awaiting restoration of supply.
The company apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for understanding as efforts continue toward restoring electricity across the affected areas.
