Stakeholders of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area in Enugu State have formally rallied behind Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah ahead of a proposed second term, declaring strong support for the continuity of his administration. The endorsement came during a stakeholders’ appreciation and mobilisation meeting convened by Hon. Chidera Odo, who called for unity, peace, and collective political direction within the local government.
The gathering was organised to appreciate Governor Mbah for his developmental strides and for the appointment of Professor Simon Uchenna Ortuanya as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Stakeholders described the appointment as a landmark decision that reflects merit, competence, and the governor’s commitment to strengthening key institutions.
Addressing the meeting, Hon. Chidera Odo thanked the governor for recognising Igbo-Etiti through several strategic appointments. He noted that the choice of Professor Ortuanya as Vice-Chancellor stands out as a decision with long-term value for education and institutional stability.
Hon. Chidera Odo stressed that the meeting was not only about appreciation but also about mobilising support for continuity in governance. He urged political leaders, community stakeholders, and party faithful to work together in a spirit of peace and shared purpose. According to him, Governor Mbah’s style of leadership has shown that development thrives where unity and discipline are prioritised.
He added that Igbo-Etiti must speak with one voice and align clearly with progressive leadership at the state level. He described the current administration as focused, performance-driven, and committed to lifting communities through deliberate policies.
During the meeting, a former Commissioner for Information, Hon. Chidi Aro, moved a motion declaring that Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area should fully support Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office. The motion was seconded by a former member of the Federal House of Representatives who represented the Igbo-Etiti and Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency.
The former lawmaker praised Governor Mbah’s governance approach and noted that the administration’s impact is visible across sectors, including infrastructure, public service delivery, and economic planning. He stated that continuity would allow the governor to consolidate gains already made.
Speaking further, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Malachy Agbo, said the level of infrastructural development achieved by the Mbah administration within two years is unprecedented in Enugu State. He explained that the governor has introduced a governance model that prioritises speed, quality, and accountability.
