The Enugu State Police Command has announced the commencement of enforcement of vehicle tinted glass permit regulations across the state, beginning on October 2, 2025.

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Daniel Ndukwe, the exercise will be carried out professionally and will apply to all vehicles with tinted glasses—whether factory-fitted or modified.

Motorists who have yet to register their tinted glass vehicles are directed to complete the process online at http://possap.gov.ng before proceeding to the Command’s State Intelligence Department (SID), at the State Command Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, for physical verification. Those unwilling to obtain the permit are advised to remove the tints or replace factory glasses with transparent ones, in line with legal requirements.

The Command also reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing the existing ban on unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, Police SPY and unallocated official number plates, as well as unregistered vehicles.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to oversee the exercise. He further warned officers to conduct the operation with utmost professionalism, free from harassment and extortion. Any officer found guilty of misconduct, he stressed, will face disciplinary action, while their supervising officer will also be held accountable.

The Commissioner urged motorists to cooperate with the Police during the operation and to report cases of harassment or extortion to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s Complaints Response Unit (CRU) on:
📞 09160002486, 07059160602, 08176155557
📲 WhatsApp/SMS: 09160002486

The Police Command reassured the public of its resolve to enforce the law while safeguarding citizens’ rights and dignity.
