In a bold move to boost economic empowerment and support grassroots entrepreneurship, the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu, has handed over 28 mini buses to selected beneficiaries drawn from the five local government areas of the district — Awgu, Aninri, Oji River, Ezeagu, and Udi.
The empowerment initiative, hailed as a strategic intervention for poverty alleviation and youth engagement, is part of Senator Ngwu’s ongoing efforts to improve the standard of living of his constituents by equipping them with tools for self-reliance and income generation.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Senator Ngwu emphasized that the gesture was more than just a donation of vehicles but a deliberate step towards building sustainable livelihoods. He noted that transportation plays a vital role in Nigeria’s economy, and empowering people with mini buses provides them an opportunity to create jobs, support families, and contribute to community growth.
Community leaders and stakeholders across Enugu West described the initiative as “timely, impactful, and visionary,” stressing that it aligns with the Senator’s broader commitment to inclusive development, human capital empowerment, and responsive representation.
One of the beneficiaries, visibly overwhelmed with gratitude, expressed appreciation to the Senator, pledging to make judicious use of the mini bus to improve personal income while also supporting community needs.
The distribution of 28 buses across Awgu, Aninri, Oji River, Ezeagu, and Udi adds to Senator Ngwu’s record of people-oriented projects and further cements his image as a representative deeply connected to the needs of his constituents.
The event ended with renewed calls for other political leaders to emulate such gestures, ensuring that governance translates into tangible benefits for the people.
