In a report circulating on the social media, tension has gripped Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State following reports that the Executive Chairman, was allegedly arrested in the early hours of today by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and whisked away to an undisclosed location.
Though official details are still sketchy, his arrest is being linked to the violent attack on All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters during the Nsukka Mega Defection Rally held at Opi on August 9, 2025. The rally, which was meant to receive hundreds of defectors into the APC fold, turned bloody after unidentified thugs allegedly launched a coordinated assault, leaving several people injured.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that about nine more arrests are expected in Nsukka in the coming days as security agencies intensify their crackdown on those suspected of orchestrating the violence.
As at the time of filing this report, neither the DSS nor the Enugu State Government has issued an official statement regarding the alleged arrest of the council chairman.
