The Enugu Children’s Inter-Denominational Back to School Prayer held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Christ Ascension Center, Independence Layout, Enugu, has been hailed as a remarkable and timely initiative, underscoring the vital role of spiritual preparation in shaping the future of young learners.
By 8:00 a.m., the venue was already filled with eager mothers and their children, all united by a shared conviction, to dedicate the new academic term into the hands of God. The prayer session, led by Pastor Mrs. Favour Nnaji, created an atmosphere of deep reverence and unity as parents fervently prayed for divine protection, wisdom, and excellence for their children. Many described the gathering as a spiritual shield over the young ones, ensuring they step into their classrooms fortified with God’s presence.
The event carried profound symbolism as children attended with their school bags and writing materials, a visual declaration of both readiness and reliance on God’s guidance for the school year. This act highlighted the core essence of the programme: education combined with spiritual dedication.
In addition to the spiritual upliftment, the organisers ensured children were physically supported as well. Each participant went home with back-to-school packages including bags, books, and writing materials, making the day both a moment of prayer and a celebration of generosity. The gesture not only equipped the pupils for their studies but also underscored the organisers’ commitment to holistic preparation, spiritual and academic alike.
Convener of the programme, Mrs. Rita Edeh, expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming turnout, describing the event as a testimony to the importance parents place on their children’s spiritual and academic welfare.
“This initiative is about more than just gathering to pray,” she noted. “It is about giving children a firm foundation to face the school year with courage and confidence. When parents stand in prayer for their children, they are shaping destinies and ensuring that the next generation excels beyond expectations.”
