Comrade Kingsley Nwosu, Chairman of the Volleyball Association of Nigeria, Enugu State, has been elected as the South-East Zonal Representative on the Nigerian Volleyball Federation (NVBF) Board. The highly competitive election took place on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the prestigious Package B Arena of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, drawing key stakeholders and volleyball enthusiasts from across the country.
The event, which brought together delegates from various zones to shape the future of Nigerian volleyball, ended with loud cheers as Nwosu emerged victorious. His win was greeted with excitement from athletes, coaches, and administrators, particularly from the South-East, who described his success as “a triumph for dedication, competence, and vision.”
Fondly known as “Coach Niger,” Comrade Nwosu is a respected youth leader, seasoned sports administrator, and passionate advocate for grassroots sports development. A former international volleyball player and coach, he has proudly represented Nigeria on the global stage, travelling extensively to promote the sport he loves. His illustrious career reflects not only exceptional athletic talent but also a lifelong commitment to youth development and sports excellence.
As the current Chairman of the Volleyball Association of Nigeria in Enugu State, Nwosu has been pivotal in reviving the game at the grassroots level. Under his leadership, Enugu’s volleyball teams are undergoing rigorous preparations for the 2026 National Sports Festival, which the state is set to host. His efforts align with the visionary agenda of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, who has identified sports as a key driver of youth empowerment, unity, and economic growth.
Beyond volleyball, Nwosu’s influence stretches into youth leadership and entrepreneurship. He serves as the Chairman of the NANS Stakeholders Forum, advocating for student welfare and youth inclusion in governance, while also running a thriving business as the Chief Executive Officer of Volt Night Club, a popular leisure and hospitality brand in Nsukka. These diverse roles highlight his ability to combine sports administration with business acumen and community engagement.
His election to the NVBF Board comes at a critical time as Enugu State intensifies preparations to host and excel at the upcoming National Sports Festival. Governor Mbah has already inaugurated a Local Organising Committee (LOC) led by Nigeria’s track legend and Olympic bronze medalist Mary Onyeali, signaling the state’s commitment to delivering a world-class event. As head of Enugu volleyball, Nwosu has pledged to ensure not only a successful festival but also a dominant performance in volleyball, while using his new national platform to attract partnerships, improve infrastructure, and create opportunities for young athletes across the South-East.
Shortly after his victory, Comrade Nwosu issued a heartfelt message of appreciation to his supporters, describing the election as a collective triumph. His statement reads:
