Relief has returned to the people of Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State as Pharmacist Caleb, who was abducted along the Ohebe-Agu–Orba Road on Saturday evening, has reportedly regained his freedom.

A close family source confirmed the development in the early hours of Monday, disclosing that Caleb was released late Sunday night after tense hours of uncertainty. Details surrounding his release remain sketchy as of the time of this report, including whether the ₦50 million ransom earlier demanded by the kidnappers was paid.

The pharmacist’s safe return comes after a harrowing ordeal that heightened fears across the state, especially following the recent killing of Rev. Father Matthew Eya, which had already thrown the Udenu axis into mourning and panic.

Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the circumstances of Caleb’s release, but community members have expressed gratitude for his safe return while urging Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and law enforcement authorities to intensify efforts to end the rising wave of kidnappings and violent crimes in the state.

Residents, though relieved, continue to call for stronger security measures to prevent a repeat of such traumatic incidents that have left many families living in fear.
