In a move aimed at easing the cost of transportation for commuters across Enugu State, the operators of the newly introduced Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses have announced a significant reduction in transport fares across major terminals. The fare review, which took effect this week, has been received with relief by passengers struggling with the rising cost of living.

At **Garriki Terminal**, the new fares are as follows: Agbani – ₦400, Abakpa – ₦700, Holy Ghost – ₦300, and Emene – ₦600.

 

From **Holy Ghost Terminal**, passengers will now pay ₦300 to Emene, ₦700 to Agbani/4-Corner, ₦300 to Garriki, ₦300 to Abakpa, ₦2,200 to Nsukka, ₦500 to Ninth Mile, and ₦1,200 to Udi/Oji River.

 

At **Abakpa Terminal**, fares have been fixed at ₦700 to Garriki, ₦300 to Holy Ghost, ₦1,800 to Nsukka, and ₦1,200 to Agbani.

 

From **Nsukka Terminal**, transport to Abakpa now costs ₦1,800.

 

Meanwhile, at the **University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Loading Point**, fares have been set at ₦600 to Abakpa and ₦500 to UNTH Old Site, while from **UNTH Old Site**, the fare to UNTH New Site is ₦500.

 

The development marks a practical step in promoting affordable, clean-energy-driven transport in line with government efforts to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal. Many commuters expressed satisfaction, noting that the CNG buses not only provide cheaper alternatives but also offer safer and more environmentally friendly services.

 

Transport authorities have assured residents that the initiative will be sustained and expanded to cover more routes in the coming weeks.
