The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has announced the appointment of new administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
This development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Ibibia Worika, on Wednesday. According to the statement, the appointments took effect from Monday, April 7, 2025.

In addition to the LGA appointments, Vice Admiral Ibas also constituted a new board for the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

These appointments come on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision to void the local government elections held in Rivers State on October 5, 2024, citing legal irregularities.
The new administrators are expected to serve in a caretaker capacity pending fresh local government elections, the date of which is yet to be announced.
