Dr. John Nwokeabia, the 2023 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State, has reacted to the defection of Hon. Chijioke Edeoga to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging party members to remain united and focused. In an official statement, he acknowledged Edeoga’s contributions to the party but emphasized the need for the Labour Party and the Obidient movement to strengthen their base and remain committed to the leadership of Dr. Peter Obi.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT BY DR. JOHN NWOKEABIA ON THE DEFECTION OF HON. CHIJIOKE EDEOGA TO THE PDP
Dear Party members,
I acknowledge the recent defection of Hon. Chijioke Edeoga to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While his departure from the Labour Party is regrettable, I recognize his right to political association and wish him well in his future endeavors.
I appreciate Hon. Edeoga's past contributions to our great party and acknowledge the significant role he played in our collective pursuit of good governance, equity, and sustainable development in Enugu State especially during the last governorship election.
In times like these, it's essential that we draw strength from each other. I urge all Labour Party members and Obidients to come together, support one another, and continue to focus on building and consolidating on our base. It is our structure that determines our strength. Let us pay less attention to the leadership struggles in the national and state level and rather pay heed in growing our membership. Our unity, resilience, and determination will propel us toward achieving our goals.
I reaffirm my unwavering allegiance to the Labour Party under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Peter Obi and my resolute belief in his progressive ideology. I'm convinced that under his leadership, we'll continue to chart a transformative course toward a more prosperous Enugu State and a new Nigeria.
To our dedicated party faithfuls, I commend your steadfastness, discipline, and unwavering commitment to democratic principles. Your continued support is deeply appreciated, and together, we'll build a future anchored on justice, progress, and the will of the people.
Finally, I extend my gratitude to the Labour Party leadership in Enugu State, including our leaders in Enugu North and East, for their dedication to the party's growth and cohesion. Together, we'll continue to champion progressive governance and the collective aspirations of our people in Enugu State.
