Two suspected kidnappers, both ex-convicts, were arrested this morning by the Osun State Police Command after a road crash along the Osogbo/Ibadan Expressway. The suspects had abducted a female victim earlier in the day after she boarded what appeared to be a commercial vehicle.
According to police reports, the woman boarded the vehicle around 7:20 a.m. in Ikire, thinking it was a regular transport service. However, inside were three men posing as fellow passengers. Once they reached the Balogun area of Ikire, the men overpowered her, tied her hands and legs, blindfolded her, seized her phone, and demanded cash and her ATM card. The kidnappers then made a U-turn and headed towards Ibadan.
Their plan was disrupted when the vehicle got into an accident. The commotion allowed the victim to raise an alarm, drawing the attention of the police and nearby residents. A swift response led to the arrest of two suspects, while the third managed to escape and is currently at large.
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Adeola Adeoye, confirmed the arrests and assured that investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect.
