The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) confirmed that some federal workers were overpaid in December 2024 due to a system error. To correct this, deductions are now being made from affected workers’ salaries.
A statement signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, clarified that there were no salary shortfalls in January and February 2025. The drop in salary some workers noticed was due to the exhaustion of arrears (such as the minimum wage arrears and salary increases of 25% and 35%) paid between October and December 2024.
The OAGF also addressed concerns about promotion arrears, explaining that the Standing Committee on Promotion and Salary Arrears in the Budget Office of the Federation is responsible for processing these payments. While batches 1 to 6 have been completed, further payments are awaiting approval.
The OAGF urged federal workers with genuine salary complaints to follow formal resolution channels for redress.
