On Monday, the Commissioners of Police for Anambra and Enugu States, CP Ikioye Orutugu and CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, convened to develop operational strategies aimed at enhancing proactive policing across their two neighboring states.
A joint statement from the spokespersons of the Anambra and Enugu Commands, SP Tochukwu Ikenga and SP Daniel Ndukwe, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the enhanced policing guidelines of the Inspector-General of Police.
According to Ikenga:
“The Commissioners identified the cross-border infiltration of criminals as a significant security challenge that necessitates immediate action to tackle violent crimes and the activities of subversive elements. Consequently, they committed to collaborating, sharing intelligence, and pooling operational resources to confront violent crime along the borders and within their respective jurisdictions.”
The Commissioners reaffirmed their commitment to aggressively combat all forms of crime in both states, ensuring public safety and security. They also warned criminals operating within the region to either reform or face the full force of the law.
Ikenga further noted that the meeting, which took place at the Anambra State Command Headquarters, was attended by the Deputy Commissioners of Police in charge of Operations and other senior officers from both Commands.
