The controversy surrounding Nigerian music star Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia’s divorce from his wife, Annie Macaulay, and his proposal to Natasha Osawaru continues to dominate public discourse.
2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, in a video, alleged that Osawaru, the deputy majority leader of the Edo State House of Assembly, had cast a spell on him. Mrs. Idibia claimed the singer was not in his right senses when he proposed to the 30-year-old lawmaker and pleaded with her to release him.
The proposal has sparked widespread social media reactions, particularly due to 2Baba's ongoing divorce and the striking similarities to his past proposal to Annie.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when, on Friday, 2Baba’s family filed a petition declaring him missing with the State Security Services (SSS). The petition, signed by Wilson Anuge on behalf of Anuge, Anuge & Co., reads:
“We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a profoundly troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia Family, Mr. Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface or 2Baba) who our client reasonably believes may be missing since Monday, 10 February 2025.”
According to the family, 2Baba left his residence in the early hours of 10 February in loungewear, seemingly for his habitual walk, but never returned. Despite the efforts of his family, staff, and record label to locate him, they have been unable to make contact.
The family further emphasized the unusual nature of his disappearance, noting that 2Baba is typically accompanied by protective guards, but on the day he went missing, he left unaccompanied.
They expressed concern that his sudden disappearance could indicate abduction. The family also revealed that since his disappearance, several of his friends had received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts, soliciting financial assistance, which led them to suspect foul play.
The family, deeply worried about his safety, requested the intervention of the SSS to locate and rescue him, stressing that the agency's resources are crucial in such a situation.
The family’s petition has underscored the traumatic impact of his disappearance on both them and his employees, with his musical empire left in a state of uncertainty.
Meanwhile, 2Baba's proposal to Natasha Osawaru, a graduate and lawmaker, has garnered attention after a viral video showed the singer presenting a ring to Osawaru, which followed a public announcement of their relationship. Their union has caused a stir, especially since 2Baba recently divorced Annie, with whom he shares a complicated relationship history.
