Former Belgian international footballer Radja Nainggolan has been arrested as part of a large-scale investigation into cocaine trafficking. The Brussels prosecutor’s office confirmed that the arrest followed a series of early-morning raids across the country on Monday. The investigation is focused on the alleged importation of cocaine from South America to Europe through the port of Antwerp, as well as its subsequent distribution within Belgium.

Nainggolan, 36, who hails from Antwerp, had made headlines just last week when he came out of retirement to join Belgian second-tier side Lokeren. He had been without a club since the summer of 2024 before signing with Lokeren.
Nainggolan had marked his debut with Lokeren with a goal in a 1-1 draw against K. Lierse.
