The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Distinguished Comr. Ibeabuchi Moses Onyia, has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, describing it as a powerful reminder of the people’s sovereignty and the collective responsibility to sustain democratic governance.
In a commemorative message released on June 12, Onyia said Democracy Day represents a moment to reflect on the strength of citizens’ voices and the enduring promise of a more prosperous Nigeria built on justice, unity, and active participation.
He called on Nigerians, especially students and young people, to remain committed to national development and civic responsibility, stressing that democracy can only thrive when citizens consistently engage in shaping the nation’s future.
Quoting his message, Onyia stated:
“Today, we celebrate the power of the people, the strength of our voices, and the promise of a better tomorrow. Let us continue to uphold the values of unity, justice, and active participation in nation-building. Happy Democracy Day to all Nigerians.”
He further reaffirmed NANS’ commitment to promoting democratic values, good governance, and constructive engagement among Nigerian students, while urging renewed dedication toward building a stronger and more united country.
