The announcement was made in Abuja during the collation of results from the faction’s presidential primary exercise, supervised by former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, who chaired the Presidential Primaries Collation Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has announced former Cross River governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

According to the committee, the process followed consultations with party members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with delegates participating through voice votes.

Senator Sandy Onor emerged as the sole aspirant after purchasing his nomination and expression of interest forms earlier in the month. His emergence was said to be the outcome of internal agreements within the factional structure of the PDP.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were reportedly present at the party secretariat in Abuja to observe the exercise.

Following the declaration, the factional leadership presented Onor with a certificate of return and the party flag, formally confirming him as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
