Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly selected Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State as the new Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), replacing Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The development reportedly emerged following an extraordinary meeting involving about 20 governors in Abuja shortly after the submission of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential nomination form.
According to reports, the governors met at the Ogun State Government Lodge, where concerns were allegedly raised over the leadership of Governor Uzodimma, leading to a decision to remove him as Chairman of the forum.
A source quoted in the report disclosed that the governors resolved to settle for Governor Peter Mbah as the new PGF Chairman after extensive deliberations.
However, the Director General of the Progressive Governors Forum reportedly denied that such a meeting took place, despite claims by sources that the gathering was attended by governors from Ogun, Bayelsa, Enugu and several other states.
The reported development has continued to generate reactions across political circles, especially coming at a crucial moment ahead of the 2027 political realignments.
More details are expected to emerge.
