Two members of a Nollywood production crew have been found dead at a movie location in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, prompting a full-scale investigation by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The deceased were identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and chief executive of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director popularly known as Director Carrinqton. Their bodies were discovered on Saturday evening inside a parked vehicle within the premises where filming was ongoing.
The movie was reportedly directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore.
According to sources, the two crew members had arrived early at the location to set up lighting equipment. After completing their assignment mid-morning, they reportedly remained inside Imeh’s tinted vehicle while awaiting further instructions. Concern was raised after repeated attempts to reach them by phone failed, leading to the discovery of their bodies inside the vehicle, which was said to have its engine and air-conditioning running.
Police sources confirmed that the matter was first reported at the Maroko Police Station before being transferred to SCID, Yaba, where it has been classified as an unnatural death requiring thorough investigation.
Family members disclosed that autopsy and toxicology tests are currently underway to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators have reportedly questioned the film producer, a food vendor, and a crew member who delivered a meal to the deceased earlier in the day. The food vendor is said to be in custody as part of ongoing inquiries.
Authorities are examining possible environmental, mechanical, or ingestion-related factors, including the proximity of industrial generators to the parking area. Officials stated that conclusions will remain provisional pending forensic results.
The tragic development has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, as colleagues and family members await the outcome of investigations.
