The Enugu State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demonstrated full readiness for the forthcoming PDP National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, as the party, under the leadership of its Acting Chairman, Hon. Steve Oruruo, has completed the distribution of all convention materials and finalized comprehensive logistical arrangements.
Briefing journalists in Enugu after a series of meetings with various party organs, Hon. Oruruo announced that the Enugu PDP has concluded every preparation necessary for a seamless participation in the national event, describing the party structure in the state as “united, strong, and indestructible.”
“I have just returned from Abuja where I secured all the essential materials for the convention. We have successfully distributed uniforms, concluded transportation plans, and ensured that every delegate from Enugu is fully mobilized. Our delegates will be airlifted directly from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport to the convention venue in Ibadan,” Oruruo disclosed.
He added that a chartered aircraft would remain on standby throughout the convention period, while the state party secretariat would maintain real-time communication with delegates to ensure orderliness and proper coordination.
The Acting Chairman further emphasized that the Enugu PDP remains a formidable force in Nigerian politics, even without financial support from the state government, stressing that the unity, discipline, and organizational depth of the chapter stand as a model for others.
“The PDP in Enugu is a fortress that cannot be shaken by any storm. We are sending 81 delegates to the national convention, and we may even sponsor additional members who are passionate about contributing to the success of this great event,” he said.
Hon. Oruruo, whose leadership has been marked by inclusivity and strategic engagement, disclosed that the state party has intensified consultations across all levels to sustain harmony and strengthen collective purpose. “We have spoken with every stakeholder because unity is our greatest strength. In every political family, people may hold differing views, but leadership is about bringing everyone together under one vision,” he noted.
He maintained that effective opposition demands courage, unity, and visionary leadership, adding that under his stewardship, Enugu PDP has continued to operate with focus and integrity. “Opposition is not about noise; it is about building consensus, sustaining unity, and offering Nigerians a credible alternative built on trust and shared ideals,” Oruruo asserted.
Looking ahead to the national convention, the Acting Chairman expressed optimism that the exercise will deepen internal democracy, restore confidence among members, and produce capable leaders who will reposition the PDP as a trusted political movement. “We expect to elect leaders with integrity, courage, and a clear vision to steer the PDP toward national recovery and renewed hope for Nigerians,” he said.
Reiterating his commitment to open leadership, Oruruo warned against suppressing diverse opinions within the party, stressing that inclusivity and dialogue are vital to sustaining democracy. “Democracy thrives on the plurality of voices. Every member of the PDP must have a place and a voice in shaping our collective future,” he stated.
He concluded by reaffirming that under his dynamic and unifying leadership, the Enugu PDP stands fully prepared for the national convention, symbolizing organizational excellence, discipline, and unwavering loyalty to the ideals of the party.
