Tension flared today in Enugu as a group of concerned citizens, led by Ebube Joseph, staged a peaceful protest calling for renewed international attention to the plight of Christians in Nigeria.
Holding placards with inscriptions such as “President Donald Trump, God Bless You for Remembering Nigerian Christians,” the protesters urged former U.S. President Donald J. Trump not to “disappoint Christians in Nigeria,” insisting that deadly attacks against Christian communities are “still going on.”
Eyewitnesses reported that the demonstrators marched through parts of the city, expressing frustration over continued insecurity and appealing for stronger global intervention.
Authorities have not yet issued an official response.
