Tension is rising in Enugu as unconfirmed reports suggest that Barr. Agbowo Chinedu Frank, the renowned human rights advocate and legal practitioner who recently spoke out against alleged police abductions and extortion in the Nsukka zone, may have been arrested by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force.

The development reportedly occurred on Sunday morning, just days after Barr. Agbowo’s viral video exposed what he described as a “disturbing pattern of unlawful arrests, coerced confessions, and financial extortion” by some police officers under the guise of fighting cybercrime.

At the time of this report, his mobile number has remained unreachable, sparking growing concern among colleagues, friends, and supporters. Sources close to the lawyer revealed that he was last seen on Saturday evening, and efforts to contact him since Sunday morning have proved abortive.

The sudden disappearance has triggered widespread speculation that he may be in police custody, allegedly in connection with his public outcry against police misconduct.

The situation has already begun to escalate, with youths across Enugu threatening to stage a massive protest if it is confirmed that Barr. Agbowo was arrested for speaking out against police exploitation.

“We are closely monitoring the situation,” said one youth leader in Enugu who pleaded anonymity. “If this is true, we will not keep quiet. This is an attack on freedom of speech and an attempt to silence the truth.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Enugu State Police Command has not issued any official statement regarding the whereabouts or possible arrest of Barr. Agbowo.

This is a developing story. More details to follow.
