In a tragic turn of events, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shafi’u Usman Bawa, a police officer in Kontagora, Niger State, reportedly took his own life on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The police confirmed the incident in a report shared by SaharaReporters.
According to the report, Bawa's father, Mr. Usman Bawa, a resident of Rigasa in Kontagora, reported the suicide to the police after discovering his son’s lifeless body. ASP Bawa was found hanging from the ceiling, and his death was later confirmed by a medical professional at the General Hospital, Kontagora.
Following the confirmation of his death, the body was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
